About us
Base Metalwork was founded in 2008 by Karl Wilkinson who had previously worked in all aspects of Metal Fabrication after serving an apprenticeship as a Skilled Welder at British Nuclear Fuels. In The 5 years at BNFL he passed various Welding tests to become a Coded Welder and qualified to weld in all positions using MIG, TIG and MMA.
Karl continued to develop his hands on skills working at various engineering and fabrication companies throughout the North West which covered a range of aspects from furniture to the building of specialist material handling equipment. After attending college as a mature student gaining the ability to work in CAD Design he then decided it was time to go his own way and to offer a unique service.
Now 10 years on and with a dedicated team covering areas in architectural metalwork, furniture, interior design, transport and specialist engineered components, Base Metalwork have managed to gain an excellent reputation for quality.
Having a superb relationship with suppliers and a long standing customer base we are able to offer an exceptional service from the design and build of bespoke one offs to the production of large batch quantities hitting tight deadlines while maintaining high standards throughout.
